U.S. Army Medicine Civilian Corps to Exhibit  at Upcoming National Nursing Conferences

Representatives from the Civilian Corps of the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) will be exhibiting at the National Nurse Practitioner Symposium in Keystone, Colorado on July 19 to July 22 and the National Black Nurses Association Annual Conference in Saint Louis, Missouri from July 31 to August 5, 2018.

During these events, Civilian Corps career specialists will provide attendees with information pertaining to numerous rewarding employment opportunities across the globe as well as the attractive benefits offered to civilians who are employed by the U.S. Army MEDCOM.

The U.S. Army MEDCOM is one of the Army’s largest Major Commands, employing approximately 42,000 civilian employees world-wide.  The MEDCOM has the noble mission of providing sustained health services and research in support of the Total Force to enable readiness and conserve the fighting strength while caring for our Nation’s Soldiers for Life and Families.  MEDCOM comprises one of the largest healthcare networks in the world.  It operates worldwide at more than 70 Army healthcare facilities and clinics.

Throughout the month of July, Civilian Corps career specialists will specifically highlight career opportunities for civilians as Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs), needed to provide key healthcare services in support of the MEDCOM mission.

“We are in constant pursuit of our Nation’s top talent to fill our critical vacancies; We are looking for the best and brightest candidates who are interested in joining our high-performing healthcare team; there are opportunities throughout the United States as well as overseas in places such as Germany, Italy, Japan, and Korea; By filling nursing positions with our country’s most highly qualified candidates, the MEDCOM Civilian Corps can continue providing the best quality of care to U.S. Army uniformed service members, retired service members, their families and other eligible beneficiaries,” says Mr. Oscar Bocanegra, Director of Civilian Human Resources, Headquarters U.S. Army Medical Command.

NPs and RNs are integral to the successful delivery of top quality healthcare and civilian employees are a vital part of MEDCOM, making up approximately 60% of the total Army Medicine workforce.  Civilian employees work alongside their military counterparts, but are not subject to military requirements, such as enlistment, basic training (boot camp), etc.

MEDCOM civilian employees receive excellent benefits, including flexible work schedules, competitive salaries, and extensive health insurance coverage options.
